Job summary

The Washington Commanders in Ashburn, Virginia, are looking for qualified individuals to join their Grounds Department as they prepare fields for practices and games. This is a full-time hourly position reporting to the Sr. Director of Grounds.

Requirements include a 2-year degree from an accredited sports turf program and the ability to work flexible hours. The Commanders are a military-friendly organization actively recruiting veterans and their spouses.

Qualifications

• Able to lift at least 50 pounds.
• Must have a valid driver’s license.
• Must obtain Virginia pesticide and fertilizer applicator licenses.

Responsibilities

• Assist in field preparation for Commanders practices and games.
• Run and maintain equipment.
• Create and implement an equipment maintenance program.
• Maintain landscape around facility to highest quality.
• Assist in painting multiple types of professional athletic fields.

Job description

The Washington Commanders are seeking qualified individuals to join the Grounds Department. This is a full-time hourly position and answers the Sr. Director of Grounds. This position is based out of BigBear.ai Performance Center in Ashburn, Virginia the training site of the Washington Commanders.

Requirements

• 2 year degree from accredited sports turf program
• Flexibility to work extended hours, including some nights and weekends
• Strong communication skills both written and oral
• Ability to lift at least 50 pounds
• Valid driver’s license
• Ability to obtain a Virginia pesticide herbicide license within 6 months of employment
• Ability to obtain a Virginia fertilizer applicator license within 6 months of employment
