Job summary

Compass Group is seeking a Grounds Manager to coordinate and supervise all aspects of recreational fields and related operations under the contract scope. The role includes developing budgets, procurement processes, and providing professional consultation on athletic field projects.

Ideal candidates have a Bachelor’s in horticulture or related fields and 5+ years of senior grounds management, with strong leadership, budgeting, and CMMS experience.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Horticulture, Turfgrass, Landscape Management, or related field.
  • 5+ years of progressive ground management experience including leadership responsibilities.
  • Experience managing large teams and complex operations.
  • Strong knowledge of horticulture, turf, and irrigation systems.
  • Financial management experience including budgeting and forecasting.
  • Experience with CMMS systems and reporting tools.
  • Strong leadership and communication skills.

Responsibilities

  • Lead and manage overall grounds operations across assigned areas.
  • Develop and execute operational strategies to drive performance and service consistency.
  • Oversee daily operations and workforce productivity.
  • Assist in managing and developing budgets, forecasting, and cost control initiatives.
  • Establish and monitor KPIs related to quality, safety, and service delivery.
  • Coach and develop management and supervisory staff.
  • Ensure compliance with safety, environmental, and company standards.
  • Manage vendor setup, performance, and contracts.
  • Leverage CMMS and reporting tools for operational decision-making.
  • Collaborate with clients to ensure alignment and satisfaction.
  • Drive continuous improvement and operational efficiencies.
  • Support long-term planning and seasonal readiness.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Job Summary

Grounds Manager will coordinate, supervise, and oversee all aspects of the recreational sports fields and the management included in scope of work as defined by contract, including proactive problem solving. Develops, oversees and implements budget and procurement processes within established guidelines. Provides professional consultation or leads the athletic field/grounds renovation projects.

  • High level athletic ground management experience including skinned areas
  • 5+ years of progressive experience in the green industry with leadership responsibility
  • Experience managing large teams and complex operations

  • Experience with CMMS systems and reporting tools
  • Strong leadership and communication skills
  • Valid driver’s license
