Job summary

YMC is seeking a sports official to officiate youth and adult games with enthusiasm, sound judgment, and a passion for developing relationships with participants, parents and staff.

Evenings and weekends are required (4-12 hours per week). Duties include officiating games, ensuring safety, assisting with Rookie Sports programs, monitoring activities, and upholding YMCA policies to deliver a fun, mission-driven experience.

Qualifications

• Officiate youth and adult sports games with enthusiastic passion and sound judgment.
• Knowledge of rules for basketball, volleyball, flag football, soccer and/or baseball.
• Current CPR/First Aid/AED certification or obtain within 30 days of hire.

Responsibilities

• Officiate games and promote a safe, fun atmosphere.
• Engage with coaches, participants and parents.
• Monitor gym/field activities and proper equipment use.
• Assist with Rookie Sports pre-school programs.
• Support sports department marketing and customer service.

APPLY BY SEPTEMBER 30, 2026The sports official must have an enthusiastic personality with an ability to develop relationships with participants, parents and other staff. They must have general knowledge of the major sports and a desire to use that knowledge to grow professionally with the YMCA. They should present themselves in a professional, caring manner and have excellent communication skills. They should also learn and understand the YMCAs mission and best practices in order to help foster and ensure all sports practices, games and events at the gym have a mission driven atmosphere.Schedule: Varies according to season and program needs. Evenings and weekends required. 4-12 hours per week, Monday, Thursdays or Fridays 4:45pm-7:45pm, Saturday 8:00am-2:00pm.Responsibilities include:Officiate youth and adult sports games with enthusiastic passion and sound judgmentEngage and build relationships with coaches, participants and parentsAssist with projects as neededMonitor all activities in the gym or field including proper use of equipmentAssure a fun, safe and quality experience that is in accordance with Association policies/guidelines.
