Job description

Onyx is building the market for people who enjoy being right. Our consumer platform lets people take positions on what happens next across sports, prediction markets, crypto, financial markets, politics, culture, and real-world events.

More than one million users have already found Onyx. Now, we’re bringing that same energy into regulated financial markets through Onyx Predictions, a CFTC-registered introducing broker and NFA member.

In June 2026, we raised a $20 million Series A led by Payward, the parent company of Kraken, valuing Onyx at $220 million less than one year after emerging from beta. Our team comes from Jane Street, DraftKings, Robinhood, xAI, SIG, HRT, and Harvard.

We’re building Onyx in New York with a small team, serious momentum, and no interest in moving slowly. The product is live. The market is growing. The category is still ours to define.

The Role.

We’re looking for a Sports Market Operations Associate to help keep Onyx’s sports markets accurate, clear, and reliable from listing through settlement. You’ll work across live events, sports data, and market rules, making timely decisions and coordinating with teams across the company.

This role suits someone who knows sports, works carefully under pressure, and takes ownership when the details matter.

What You’ll Own:

  • Set up sports markets accurately, with clear terms that reflect game conditions, player availability, and applicable rules.
  • Determine market outcomes using official league data, box scores, and other verified sources, meeting time-sensitive settlement windows.
  • Help shape markets across spreads, totals, player props, futures, and other formats, with attention to clarity and user interest.
  • Build and prioritize sports market coverage across major leagues and competitions, balancing pre-game, live, and futures markets.
  • Respond to injuries, lineup changes, trades, weather, and other news that may affect markets.
  • Apply sportsbook and fantasy sports knowledge to spot opportunities and anticipate settlement edge cases.
  • Maintain working knowledge of league rules, tiebreakers, playoff formats, and statistical definitions.
  • Monitor live events and sports news, responding to issues that may require a market suspension, clarification, or settlement.
  • Work with sports data feeds and statistics platforms to keep market parameters accurate and resolve discrepancies.
  • Write clear, timely market clarifications when questions arise about injuries, weather, rules, or event details.
  • Partner with Product and Engineering to improve operational workflows, data integrations, and sports market coverage.

What We’re Looking For:

  • Strong knowledge of multiple sports, including their rules, playoff structures, tiebreakers, and statistical categories.
  • Experience with sportsbooks, daily fantasy sports, trading, or prediction markets, including market formats and settlement practices.
  • Experience working with structured, time-sensitive sports data, such as live feeds, official league data, or statistics platforms.
  • Strong interest in sports and the ability to follow multiple events while staying current on player and team news.
  • Careful judgment and strong multitasking skills in fast-moving situations.
  • Familiarity with settlement edge cases such as suspended games, stat corrections, and unusual scoring scenarios.
  • Strong analytical skills and the ability to interpret box scores, game situations, and official rulings.
  • Clear written communication, especially when explaining market terms or settlement decisions.
  • Flexibility to work evenings and weekends around live sporting events.
  • A dependable, detail-oriented approach and the ability to stay focused during busy sports periods.

Location:

  • This role is based in our NoHo, Manhattan office, with core in-office days Tuesday through Thursday. The role may require additional coverage during major sporting events, market-moving news, and periods of high trading activity.
  • Candidates must be authorized to work in the United States. Onyx is unable to provide employment sponsorship for this position.

Compensation and Benefits:

The anticipated base salary range for this position is $80,000–$120,000, depending on experience, impact, and scope, plus a target bonus and equity.

Benefits include:

Fully covered medical, dental, and vision insurance.

Meaningful equity ownership.

Why Onyx?

Onyx is for people with conviction.

We hire talented people, give them meaningful ownership, and expect them to use it. Our teams stay small, the work stays visible, and the distance between an idea and production stays short.

Onyx moves quickly because our markets move quickly. Titles matter less than judgment, initiative, and the quality of what you ship. Good ideas can come from anywhere, but the person willing to make the call is expected to follow it through.

We value people who are ambitious without ego, intellectually honest, comfortable with uncertainty, and energized by hard problems. We debate openly, decide quickly, and take responsibility for the result.
