Job summary

Cape Ann YMCA in Gloucester, MA is seeking a part-time Sports Group Instructor to lead basketball-focused classes, including Rookie Hoops for children aged 3–5, in the evenings and on weekends.

You will teach basic skills, foster teamwork and sportsmanship, follow approved curricula, and provide friendly customer service to families and members.

CPR and First Aid certifications are required or willing to obtain; prior youth sports experience and strong interpersonal skills are preferred.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent required; relevant certifications may be required.
• Two years of experience with children or youth preferred.
• Current CPR and First Aid certifications required or willingness to obtain.

Responsibilities

• Provide high-quality instruction in basketball and other recreational sports, with a primary focus on basketball and Rookie Hoops for ages 3–5.
• Teach basic basketball skills, coordination, teamwork, and sportsmanship in an engaging, age-appropriate way.
• Follow established curriculum and lesson plans to support consistent instruction and participant development.
• Build positive relationships with children, families, and members while providing friendly and exceptional customer service.
