Job summary

The YMCA of Metropolitan Dallas is seeking a responsible Sports Coordinator to assist the Program Director with youth sports programs at our University Park location. You will help grow programs, engage staff, members and the community, and deliver high-quality experiences for children and families.

This part-time position requires availability on weeknights and Saturdays, with compensation ranging from $18.00 to $22.00 per hour.

Qualifications

  • Must understand the basic principles of sports programs (basketball, baseball, soccer, football).
  • Able to communicate with players, coaches and parents effectively; maintain a courteous, friendly attitude; be a positive role model.
  • Ability to lift up to 50 pounds; stand and walk for long periods.
  • Must attend trainings including First Aid/CPR and Child Abuse Awareness within 30 days.

Description

The YMCA is searching for a responsible and organized Sports Coordinator to assist the Program Director with the sports programs that exceeds the expectations of the members, program participants and the community. He/She must be able to grow and expand all programs as well as develop new program initiatives that will expand the services of the YMCA and have a greater connection into our community. He/She must be a team player and must attend all meetings that are deemed necessary. Incumbent should be outgoing and able to interact with staff, members, program participants, volunteers and the community in a positive way.

The Sports Coordinator must be available to work a flexible schedule including weeknights & Saturdays. He/She must be a self starter that is focused on building strong relationships. He/She must have strong organizational and planning skills and must be able to manage multiple priorities. He/She must have dependable transportation to assist with both on-site and off-site sports programs. He/She must have a commitment and passion for working with youth and families and have excellent customer service. He/She must be able to work independently and be able to problem-solve. He/She must be an excellent communicator understanding the importance and follow-thru of communication with all branch staff, participants, volunteers and the community. He/She must be proficient with computers. He/She must be able to complete required trainings including but not limited to First Aid/CPR, Child Abuse Prevention, Sexual Harassment, and New Staff Orientation within the first 30 days.

Requirements

Must understand the basic principles of sports programs such as basketball, baseball, soccer, football, etc. Incumbent should be able to communicate with players, coaches and parents effectively, maintain a courteous, friendly attitude and be a positive role model. Ability to make sound decisions and judgments even when distracted by noise and activity. Position may require repetitive stooping and bending and the candidate should be able to lift up to 50 pounds. Ability to stand and walk for long periods at a time is also required. Visual acuity is required for monitoring potential hazards for children. Ideal candidate must be energetic, enthusiastic and have the motivation to share that energy with all the sports participants. Candidate should have strong human relation skills. Incumbent must possess a strong understanding of the YMCA and its mission as well as have a strong desire to deliver a quality program to children and families in the community. Must attend required trainings including First Aid/CPR, Child Abuse Awareness, and other trainings as outlined by the YMCA. Must be 18 years or older.

This position works on weekends and evenings.
