Job summary

YMCA of Metropolitan Dallas is seeking a Summer Sports Camp Coach to help supervise practices for soccer, flag football, volleyball and basketball. You will set up equipment, maintain facility cleanliness and support the Sports Director.

Work weekdays mornings and afternoons in a part-time role. Candidates should understand sports program basics, communicate well with players, parents and coaches, and be energetic about delivering a quality youth experience.

Qualifications

Description

The YMCA is currently taking application for energetic, confident, and friendly staff to work in the sports department as Summer Sport Camp Coach.

The Sport Camp Coach will help to oversee camp practices for soccer, flag football, volleyball and basketball.

The Sport Camp Coach will set-up and take-down of equipment as well as help to ensure the cleanliness of the facility or field.

In addition, the Sports Camp Coach will assist the Sports Director with any other duties as assigned.

Days & Hours

Weekdays, mornings, and afternoons.

REQUIREMENTS

• Must understand the basic principles of sports programs such as basketball, baseball, soccer, football, and volleyball.
• Incumbent should be able to communicate with players, coaches and parents effectively, maintain a courteous, friendly attitude and be a positive role model.
• Ability to make sound decisions and judgments even when distracted by noise and activity.
• Position may require repetitive stooping and bending and the candidate should be able to lift up to 50 pounds.
• Ability to stand and walk for long periods at a time is also required.
• Visual acuity is required for monitoring potential hazards for children.
• Must be energetic, enthusiastic and have the motivation to share that energy with all the sports participants.
• Must possess a strong understanding of the YMCA and its mission as well as have a strong desire to deliver a quality program to children and families in the community.
• Must attend provided trainings including First Aid/CPR, Child Abuse Awareness, and other trainings as outlined by the YMCA.
