Job summary

Ascension St. John Sportsplex is seeking a Sports Coordinator to plan, organize, and execute football programming—NFL FLAG leagues, camps, 7v7 events—and support basketball programming as needed.

Qualifications

Responsibilities

• Coordinate NFL FLAG leagues, football camps, 7v7 events, and related initiatives.

• Recruit, train, and supervise game officials as primary contact for officiating.
• Plan and run football camps with daily itineraries and logistics.

Job description

The Sports Coordinator is responsible for the planning, organization, and execution of football programming at Ascension St. John Sportsplex while also supporting the day-to-day operations and programming needs of the Sportsplex. The position will serve as the primary coordinator for NFL FLAG leagues, football camps, 7v7 events, and other football-related initiatives while assisting with basketball programming, tournaments, camps, leagues, and other Sportsplex programs as needed.

This position is designed to provide flexibility across Sportsplex programming, allowing the Sports Coordinator to take ownership of football programming while contributing to the overall success, growth, and daily operations of the facility.

Essential Responsibilities

Football Programming

• Manage all aspects of the Sportsplex's football programming, including NFL FLAG leagues, football camps, 7v7 events, tournaments, and future football initiatives.
• Coordinate league operations, including creating game schedules, maintaining standings, and ensuring smooth event execution.
• Recruit, hire, train, and supervise game officials while serving as the primary point of contact for officiating operations.
• Plan and execute football camps by developing schedules, daily itineraries, and program logistics.
• Lead all event setup and teardown for football programs, ensuring facilities, equipment, and game-day operations are prepared.
• Record and manage game scores, statistics, and league information in the appropriate software systems.
• Maintain and update the NFL FLAG rulebook and league procedures to ensure consistency and continual improvement.
• Identify opportunities to improve football programming through new ideas, events, operational processes, and participant experiences.
• Lead marketing efforts for football programs by collaborating on promotional campaigns, creating content, and assisting with design projects using Canva.
• Build and maintain positive relationships with coaches, parents, officials, participants, and community partners.
• Coordinate coaches' meetings, officials' meetings, and other program-related communications.
• Order, organize, and distribute league uniforms, equipment, and other program materials.
• Monitor football equipment inventory and communicate future purchasing needs.

Sportsplex Programming & Operations

• Assist with the day-to-day coordination and operation of Sportsplex programs outside of football, including basketball leagues, tournaments, camps, clinics, and other youth sports programming.
• Provide on-site support for basketball and other Sportsplex events, including event setup, game-day operations, participant check-in, equipment management, and teardown.
• Assist with scheduling, registration, communication, and other administrative responsibilities related to Sportsplex programming.
• Support the planning and execution of new programs, events, leagues, and tournaments as opportunities arise.
• Assist with staffing and supervision of Sportsplex programs and events as needed.
• Help identify opportunities to improve programming, facility operations, and the overall participant and customer experience.
• Provide general operational support to Sportsplex staff and leadership during periods of high program activity.
• Assist with special events, community partnerships, promotional initiatives, and other Sportsplex activities.
• Perform other duties as assigned in support of the Sportsplex's overall mission and operations.

Preferred Qualifications

• Passion for youth sports and creating a positive participant experience.
• Strong organizational and time management skills with the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
• Experience with youth sports, sports administration, event management, recreation programming, or facility operations is preferred.
• Experience with youth football or basketball is a plus.
• Familiarity with Canva, Microsoft Office, and sports management software is a plus.
• Ability to work evenings, weekends, and holidays as required by league and event schedules.
• Ability to lift and move sports equipment and assist with event setup and teardown.
• Ability to work independently while also collaborating effectively with other Sportsplex staff.
• Adaptability and willingness to assist across multiple Sportsplex programs and operational needs.
