Job summary

Boys’ and Girls’ Club of Santa Monica, Inc. is seeking a dedicated Sports Coordinator to oversee education, enrichment, and recreational sports programs for youth.

You’ll manage on-site game days, coordinate staff, handle equipment and attendance, and ensure safety and positive experiences for participants. You will lead clinics, games, and tournaments, while maintaining strong relationships with coaches, families, and community partners.

Qualifications

  • At least two years of direct youth service experience and a record that demonstrates project management, planning and implementation of youth programs.
  • Must be able to work a flexible schedule, including evenings, weekends and/or holidays.
  • Demonstrated interpersonal and communication skills.

Responsibilities

  • Serve as the on-site lead for all assigned game days, ensuring facilities are open, safe, prepared, and secured at the end of each event.
  • Coordinate game-day operations by managing schedules, staff check-ins, equipment, attendance, and communication with coaches, officials, families, and volunteers.
  • Oversee safe and efficient game operations, enforce organizational values and safety protocols, respond to incidents, and complete required documentation in MyClubHub.
  • Provide excellent customer service by serving as the primary on-site representative, addressing questions and concerns, and fostering a positive, inclusive environment.
  • Build positive relationships with youth athletes, coaches, staff, and community partners while promoting sports programs and opportunities.
  • Collaborate effectively with club leaders and staff to support program goals and deliver high-quality sports experiences.
  • Plan, schedule, and lead sports clinics, games, and tournaments, modeling strong sportsmanship and coaching best practices.
  • Oversee game day operations, including safety, volunteer coordination, first aid response, emergency procedures, and youth wellness needs.
  • Manage program administration through data tracking, scheduling, communications, and use of digital tools such as Teams, Zoom, Excel, PowerPoint, and databases.

Position: Full-Time 40 hours/ week with benefits

Reports to: Director of Operations Middle School, Sports, & Safety

Work Schedule: Monday- Friday; some Saturdays required (depending on sports games)

Pay Rate: $25/hour

Primary Function:

Under the supervision of the Director of Operations – Middle School, Sports and Safety, the Sports Coordinator is responsible for ensuring the planning, coordination and implementation of quality education, enrichment and recreational sports programs and activities. The Sport Coordinator also performs administrative duties and ensures the program requirements are met.

Requirements
Physical Requirements:
  • Ability to participate as a facilitator, coach or participant in programs for the duration of activity or event.
  • Regularly moves about the facility to coordinate work.?
  • Regularly sits at a computer station and operates electronic equipment.
    Frequently lifts, carries and positions objects weighing up to?25 pounds.?
  • Typically stands, bends, stoops and crouches.
EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE, LICENSURE AND CERTIFICATION
  • At least two years of direct youth service experience and a record that demonstrates project management, planning and implementation of youth programs. Previous experience working with youth in an athletic department.
  • At least one year of demonstrated supervisory or leadership experience at a Boys & Girls Club or similar organization. Other relevant experience may be considered.
  • Must be able to work a flexible schedule, which may include evenings, weekends and/or holidays.
  • Demonstrated interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Hold a valid drivers’ license and pass motor vehicle driving record check.
  • Pass criminal background check.
  • Child and Adult First Aid and CPR certification.
  • Physical capacity to participate and demonstrate expectations of fitness programs.
WORKING CONDITIONS and DRIVING
  • Travel between SMBGC sites, schools and various field trip sites as well as in the community is required. Must meet the insurance standards of SMBGC
  • Work is performed in the community as well as an office setting.
  • Evening or weekend hours required on an as needed basis.
