WROC/RochesterFirst in Rochester, NY is seeking a Sports Content Creator to produce and present sports reports across TV, streaming, and social platforms. You will work as a presenter/producer, developing stories, interviewing figures, and delivering engaging content.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Broadcast Journalism or equivalent combination of education and work-related experience
• Superior on-air presence
• Minimum three years' experience in sports reporting and anchoring
• Fluency in English
• Excellent communication skills, both oral and written
• Experience with posting and editing content to all social media platforms
• Experience guiding, directing and motivating others
• Ability to coach/mentor others to improve skills
• Proficiency with office equipment (computers, telephones, copiers, scanners)
• Ability to meet deadlines and handle multiple tasks
• Ability to listen to understand problems and collaborate in a team
• Valid driver’s license with good driving record
• Flexibility to work any shift

Responsibilities

• Ensures all sports content meets journalistic standards
• Writes and delivers sports stories clearly and concisely
• Participates in interview and discussion sports content for streaming platforms
• Regularly posts content to social media platforms
• Generates original story ideas for traditional and non-traditional topics
• Operates and maintains podcast broadcast equipment
• Interacts with local and national sports figures for interview content
• Assists in writing, copy editing, researching and coordinating sports programming
• Responds to breaking sports events and urgent newsroom situations
• Works with the sports team to develop comprehensive coverage
• Participates in promotional activities and public appearances
• Performs special projects and other duties as assigned
• Shoots video for sports reports
• Sets up, composes and executes video content for live, recorded and social items
• Maintains video equipment
• Edits video clips for social platforms, website, streaming and TV broadcasts

The Sports Content Creator analyzes and presents facts about sports events by interview, investigation or observation.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

• Produces and presents sports reports for all platforms
• Creates programs and long form content appropriate for streaming channels and platforms
• Ensures that all sports content meets company standards for journalistic integrity and production quality
• Writes and delivers sports stories in a clear and concise manner
• Participates in and originates interview and discussion sports content for streaming platforms
• Regularly posts content to various social media platforms
• Generates original story ideas for traditional and non-traditional sports topics

Requirements & Skills:

• Bachelor’s degree in Broadcast Journalism, or a related field, or an equivalent combination of education and work-related experience
• Superior on-air presence

• Fluency in English
• Excellent communication skills, both oral and written with the ability to ad lib when required
• Experience with posting and editing content to all social media platforms
• Experience guiding, directing and motivating others
• Ability to identify the developmental needs of others and to coach, mentor or otherwise help others to improve their knowledge or skills
• Proficiency with computers, telephones, copiers, scanners and other office equipment
• Ability to meet deadlines, prioritize assignments and handle multiple tasks simultaneously
• Ability to effectively listen to fully understand problems and communicate with a team to shape a solution
• Valid driver’s license with a good driving record
• Flexibility to work any shift

Compensation $16.50 - $18 / hour commensurate with applicant’s experience and skill level.
