Position Overview

The Sports Coach at PSM Icehouse is responsible for leading youth and some adult ice sports programs, including leagues, developmental classes, clinics, camps, private trainings, sports performance sessions, and birthday parties. The role involves designing training programs, instructing athletes, providing feedback, and fostering a positive environment.

Responsibilities

1. Teach skills, tactics, and techniques to athletes of various ages and levels.
2. Develop and implement tailored training programs.
3. Conduct on-ice and off-ice training sessions focusing on technical skills, tactics, and conditioning.
4. Monitor and evaluate athlete performance, providing constructive feedback.
5. Promote discipline, respect, and sportsmanship.
6. Ensure a safe environment for all athletes.
7. Stay updated with coaching techniques and industry best practices.
8. Perform additional duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications

1. Experience as a coach or in a related role, with a background in ice sports such as hockey, figure skating, or speed skating.
2. At least 2 years of coaching experience in youth sports.
3. Excellent interpersonal, communication, and leadership skills.
4. Willingness to work flexible hours, including after-school and weekends.
5. Current CPR/FIRST AID certifications or willingness to obtain.
6. Strong organizational and sports knowledge.
7. Passion for athlete development.

Working Conditions

• Ability to lift up to 50 pounds and move equipment.
• Work environment includes cold temperatures and noise in an ice arena.
• Extended periods of standing, activity, and movement required.
