The Sports Camp Counselor is responsible for the safety, well-being, and supervision of the campers. All duties performed should reflect the YMCA of the USA's character development traits of honesty, caring, respect, and responsibility.

What You’ll Do

• Ensure the safety and well-being of all campers and maintain a risk-free environment
• Assist in planning and implementing activities as per the camp schedule
• Maintain positive relationships with campers, parents, and staff
• Organize and care for camp equipment and supplies
• Participate actively in all scheduled activities
• Maintain camp records including incident reports and attendance
• Comply with YMCA policies and procedures
• Collaborate with the Head Counselor and perform additional duties as assigned

Qualifications

• Must be at least 18 years old or have prior experience working with children in a camp setting
• Proficiency in technology for program needs
• Availability for pre-camp and camp season trainings
• Obtain necessary certifications and trainings before camp begins
• Experience with sports preferred

Work Conditions and Physical Demands

Must be able to stand, sit, walk, communicate, and lift up to 25 pounds frequently. Reasonable accommodations can be made for disabilities. Exposure to bacteria and viruses is possible.
