Qualifications

• Must be at least 16 years old with previous instructing experience preferred.

• CPR, AED, and First Aid certifications are required within 60 days.

Job description

Thinks, communicates, and behaves as a cause-driven leader and role model for staff and members, promoting youth development, healthy living, and social responsibility in all job-related functions.

Leads energizing, fun, safe, and educational classes, practices, and games as directed by the supervisor to accomplish the YMCA mission and goals.

Supports participants and parents by answering questions related to youth development and maintaining knowledge of sport/activity trends to provide effective information and support.

Builds authentic relationships with students and parents, encouraging their connection with each other and the YMCA. Identifies potential volunteers and promotes parent involvement.

Communicates information on sports/activity programs and schedules, referring participants and parents to other programs as appropriate.

Keeps accurate records of attendance and progress reports.

Follows YMCA policies and procedures; responds appropriately to emergency situations.

Prepares and maintains the activity area before and after programs; organizes and stores equipment; reports damaged equipment.

Officiates sports and activity matches and games as scheduled.

Assists in supervising volunteers involved in sports or activities.
