Job summary

The University of Nebraska-Lincoln is seeking a Sports Program Coordinator for Campus Recreation in Lincoln, NE. The role supports comprehensive sport and youth programs and leads program development and administration.

Responsibilities include overseeing compliance, advising sport club officers and volunteers, managing intramural/extramural leagues, and supervising 150-200 student employees. Evening/weekend availability is required.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree plus 1 year of professional experience developing and managing programs in a recreation setting.
  • Proficiency with computer software necessary.
  • Experience training and supervising college-age employees.
  • Ability to work as part of a professional team and to collaborate effectively with colleagues.
  • Exceptional interpersonal skills to relate to diverse campus and community groups.
  • Current CPR /First Aid/ AED certification or ability to obtain within 2 months of employment.
  • Valid Nebraska driver’s license and UNL Large Passenger Van Training or ability to obtain upon employment.

Reporting to the Assistant Director for Sports Programs the Sports Program Coordinator at Campus Recreation is a key position which supports the success of the Comprehensive sports and youth programs offered.

The Sports Program Coordinator will:

Minimum Required Qualifications

Proficiency with computer software necessary. Experience training and supervising college age employees required. Ability to work as part of a professional team and to collaborate effectively with colleagues required. Must have exceptional interpersonal skills to relate to diverse campus and community groups. Current CPR /First Aid/ AED certification or ability to obtain within 2 months of employment. Valid Nebraska driver’s license and UNL Large Passenger Van Training or ability to obtain upon employment.

Preferred Qualifications

Master’s degree in recreation, physical education, student personnel, sport management, elementary education, sociology, psychology or related field preferred. Experience developing and managing programs for youth and/or sport clubs in a university recreation setting desirable. Ability to manage programs largely dependent on self-generated income helpful. Demonstrated ability to assess programs preferred. FA/ CPR / AED Instructor certification or ability to obtain upon employment desirable.
