Juniata College is seeking a full-time Sport Performance Coach-Intern to support its Strength and Conditioning program. The role involves assisting in training program development and overseeing interns.

This position requires a Bachelor's degree, relevant certifications in CPR and First Aid, and knowledge of NCAA rules. The internship includes a monthly stipend, room and board, and full benefits.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's Degree required.
• Certified in CPR, First Aid, and AED.
• Certification from NSCA – CSCS or CSA-SCCC required.
• Knowledge and adherence to NCAA Division III and conference rules.
• Valid driver's license required; driving record review may occur.
• Collegiate level experience preferred.

Responsibilities

• Assist in developing and implementing training programs for varsity sports.
• Oversee hiring and training of interns and student employees.
• Collaborate with coaches to monitor health and rehabilitation.
• Track liability waiver completion and fitness center usage via software platform.
• Collaborate with coaches and Athletic Trainers to monitor strength, fitness, and rehabilitation programs.
• Stay abreast of current advances in physiology and kinesiology of human performance while bringing creative approaches, ideas, and solutions to the supervisor.
• Supervise and perform routine daily, weekly, monthly, and yearly maintenance of equipment.
• Work with Athletic Operations staff to place work orders for facility maintenance as needed.
• Create and maintain positive relationships with campus partners.

Job description

Sport Performance Coach‑Intern

Juniata College, an NCAA Division III institution, seeks a full‑time Sport Performance Coach‑Intern. The position is a 12‑month internship that includes a monthly stipend, room and board, and full benefits.

Key Responsibilities

• Assist the Assistant AD for Sport Performance and Assistant Director of Sport Performance in all operations of the Strength and Conditioning program, including developing and implementing training programs for Juniata’s varsity sport programs.
• Oversee the hiring, training, and development of volunteer interns and student employees, including handling administrative paperwork and education.
• Monitor access to the fitness center exclusively for Juniata students, faculty, staff, and community members.
• Track liability waiver completion and fitness center usage via software platform.
• Collaborate with coaches and Athletic Trainers to monitor strength, fitness, and rehabilitation programs.
• Stay abreast of current advances in physiology and kinesiology of human performance while bringing creative approaches, ideas, and solutions to the supervisor.

• Knowledge and adherence to Juniata College, NCAA Division III, and Conference (Landmark and CVC) rules and regulations.
• Valid driver’s license required, clear of major violations. Juniata College reserves the right to review driving records to determine suitability for the position.
• Experience at collegiate level preferred.

Supervision

This position reports to the Assistant Athletic Director for Sport Performance.
