Job summary

DICK'S Sporting Goods, Inc. is seeking a Team Captain - Sport & Outdoor to coach teammates, drive sales, and ensure athletes find the right gear for their sport.

You will lead store operations, deliver outstanding customer experiences, and mentor teammates in a fast-paced athletic retail environment. Ideal candidates have 1–3 years of retail experience, strong leadership skills, and a commitment to excellent service.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or Equivalent.
• 1-3 years of experience.
• Previous retail/customer-facing experience required.
• Previous people leadership experience preferred.

Responsibilities

• Deliver excellent athlete experiences by providing clear, accurate product information and guidance.
• Follow merchandising and presentation standards, including floor sets and price changes.
• Promote company programs, loyalty participation, warranty sales and credit card enrollment.
• Assist in developing 30-60-90 day plans to support department priorities.
• Help plan staffing, budgeting and operational initiatives within store budgets.
• Lead by example when acting as Head Coach during openings and closings.
• Communicate goals and workload to teammates to maximize efficiency.
• Ensure payroll and financial goals are met while delivering strong athlete service.
