Ottawa County is seeking qualified candidates to pursue sponsorship for Grand Valley State University's 2027 Spring Police Academy (May 4 - August 25, 2027).

The non-sworn Recruit will go through interviews, background checks, and a two-year county employment obligation. Starting pay is $27.3639/hr with benefits; after academy completion and licensing, promotion to full-time Road Patrol Deputy at $33.7428/hr and entry into the POLC 312 union, with Field Training Program to follow.

Formación

• Must possess a high school diploma or GED.
• Paramedic license or college degree preferred.
• Ability to learn law enforcement methods.
• Excellent physical and mental condition.
• Strong communication and judgment.

Responsabilidades

• Patrol county areas and enforce traffic laws.
• Investigate suspicious conditions and make arrests.
• Escort suspects, testify in court, and assist prosecution.
• Provide emergency response and direct traffic.
• Maintain records and assist the public.
