The selected candidate will work at an MUFG office or client site four days a week and remotely one day. Further details will be provided by our recruitment team.

Job Summary:

Overall Purpose:

This role involves evaluating and underwriting Direct Loans and other credit exposures to non-investment grade borrowers owned by Private Equity, ranging from middle market to large corporations, within the Sponsor Finance & Direct Lending business unit. The role supports the Originations team (Financial Sponsor coverage) and syndication strategies, focusing on credit monitoring and borrower relationship management.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Conduct credit analysis, make recommendations, and manage transactions within the Sponsor/Direct Lending unit.
  • Perform due diligence on new transactions and regularly evaluate existing loans.
  • Evaluate, structure, and negotiate terms and credit agreements with sponsor-owned borrowers.
  • Prepare detailed credit analyses and applications, assessing risks, financial health, and capital structure.
  • Support the sponsor coverage team in generating ideas and attend client meetings as required.
  • Assist in syndication strategies, including lender presentations and liaising with other lenders.
  • Communicate account information across organizational units.
  • Maintain industry knowledge relevant to the portfolio.
  • Oversee facility closing procedures and documentation.

Advanced Client Solutions:

  • Support deal teams in developing financing structures and strategies, including leveraged markets and other financial products.
  • Assist in credit analysis for structured transactions like derivatives, securitizations, and supply chain finance.
  • Stay informed about industry trends and regulatory issues.
  • Participate in client and bank meetings as needed.

Policy and Transaction Responsibilities:

  • Coordinate with credit approval divisions to align risk strategies.
  • Assess and assign ratings to transactions, managing exposure levels.
  • Ensure compliance with policies and regulations.

Minimum Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree; CFA or MBA preferred.
  • 7+ years of experience in financial institutions or credit risk analysis.
  • Strong knowledge of accounting and corporate finance.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Word, PowerPoint, and Excel.
