Alpha Supported Living Services in Spokane, WA is seeking a Direct Support Professional House Lead to supervise and assist adults with developmental disabilities. You will support daily living, coordinate community activities, monitor health needs, and document shifts, under supervision of the Program Supervisor.

Starting wage is $23.10 per hour, with potential to earn up to $27.70 through increases. A WA driver’s license, HS diploma or GED, and 6+ months in supported living or long-term care

Qualifications

• At least 18 years of age and able to perform personal care tasks.
• Knowledge of personal care, emotional support, and medical administrations.
• WA driver’s license and ability to be covered on agency insurance.
• Current certifications or ability to obtain First Aid & CPR, NAR/CNA/HCA, Nurse Delegation Core Training within 4 weeks.
• Experience in supported living or long-term care preferred.

Job Summary

Under the supervision of the Program Supervisor, Direct Support Professional house Leads are responsible for providing support to program participants that meets their needs, provides opportunities for community integration and creates a nurturing, safe and healthful living environment. At all times, Direct Support Professionals will seek to act in accord with the principles and values expressed in the guidelines and uphold the agency mission “to serve individuals with developmental disabilities by providing accessible residential and other support services that will maximize each person’s quality of life.” Direct Support Professionals will work the shift assigned by the Program Supervisor or the Site Supervisor.

Day-to-Day

• Interact with clients and provide informal counseling; support client in problem solving challenges
• Support day-to-day needs including; personal hygiene, food preparation, house keeping, shopping, monitor health needs, and supervision of medication
• Assist participants with accessing community outings of client's choosing
  • Operate agency vehicle to transport clients or assist with transportation needed
• Assist with grocery shopping
• Complete required written and digital documentation of each shift

Who we are looking for

• A House Lead who treats participants with dignity and consideration, promoting and safeguarding clients' ability to make decisions and freely exercise their rights
• Knowledge of personal care, emotional support, and medical administrations practices
• Physically able to support clients with personal care such as showering, toileting, feeding, dressing, and transferring client
• Ability to motivate, develop, and provide instructional support to clients
• Basic ability to use laptops, desktop, or tablet to complete computer tasks

Job Requirements

• At least 18 years of age
• A High School Diploma or GED
• Have a Washington State Driver’s license able to be covered on Alpha Supported Living Services’ automobile insurance plan based upon driving record
• Background inquiry clearance from an authorized state agency
• 6+ months experience working in supported living or other long term care setting
• Current certification in first aid and CPR, NAR (or CNA/HCA) and Nurse
  Delegation Core Training, or ability to obtain or renew within 4 weeks of hire.

Starting Wage:

DSP House Lead's will start at $23.10 per hour

Pay Transparency: Wage Scale

This position has a starting rate of $23.10 per hour and can earn up to $27.70 per hour through annual step increases. Higher starting rate available for applicants with qualifying experience and required certifications.

Employees in this position are members of a bargaining unit represented by SEIU. Wages and benefits are currently under negotiation and may change depending upon the results of the collective bargaining process.

We offer paid, on-the-job training, but 6+ months or more experience as a DSP or other leadership role is necessary in addition to a desire to serve your community and support others. An NAR CNA or HCA license is highly desired, but not required!

We serve a diverse population of adults with developmental disabilities. DSPs assist clients with reaching their goals and activities of daily living.

In addition, DSP lead duties include:

• a. Develop and maintain activity calendars
• b. Prepare and maintain property inventory records
• c. Develop grocery lists and assign staff to support participants with grocery shopping
• d. Monitor home status and provide maintenance requests
• e. New hire support and training, including Peer Coaching
• f. Periodically review clothing and hygiene supplies to identify needed repairs or replacements
• g. Verify that food purchased with EBT cards is properly labeled and stored
• h. Check PRNs to make sure we have 7 days/dosages on hand and check expiration date - reorder as needed
