Job summary

Globe Communications seeks a Copper Splicer II to connect and maintain copper wire networks for telecommunications, ensuring reliable phone and internet services through skilled splicing and repair work.

Responsibilities include performing aerial and underground splicing, testing and troubleshooting circuits post-installation, and ensuring compliance with industry standards. You will document daily reports and assist teammates while growing in a safety-first environment.

Qualifications

• Two years of copper splicing experience or equivalent work history.
• Knowledge of telecommunications network structure.
• Must be able to pass a DOT physical exam and obtain a medical card.
• Authorized to work in the United States for the company.

Responsibilities

• Perform cable upgrades and splicing tasks, aerial and underground.
• Test, activate, and troubleshoot circuits post-installation.
• Ensure splicing operations meet customer and industry standards.
• Safely work at heights, from underground to aerial locations.
• Repair out-of-service drops or cable cuts as needed.
• Provide guidance to other splicers when required.
• Complete daily vehicle maintenance and document work in reports.
• Mark maps and track material usage for projects.
• Other duties as assigned.

At Globe Communications, as a Copper Splicer II, you’ll connect and maintain copper wire networks for telecommunications, ensuring reliable phone and internet services by skillfully splicing and repairing connections.

What you’ll do

• Perform cable upgrades and splicing tasks, both aerial and underground
• Test, activate, and troubleshoot the network’s circuit post-installation
• Ensure all splicing operations meet strict customer and industry standards
• Safely navigate working at different heights, from underground to in the air
• Repair out-of-service drops or cable cuts as necessary
• Provide guidance to other splicers, as needed
• Complete basic daily maintenance of vehicles, including fluid checks
• Document work performed through daily production reports, including marking up maps and keeping correct material usage records
• Other duties as assigned

What you’ll need

• To be 18 years of age or older
• Authorization to work in the United States for this company
• High School Diploma, GED equivalent, or relevant work experience
• Valid State driver's license (cannot be considered Provisional), including an acceptable driving record
• Must be able to pass a DOT physical exam, resulting in a valid medical card
• At least two years of copper splicing experience
• Certified pole climber or capable of demonstrating proficiency as a pole climber, is preferred
• Knowledge of telecommunications network structure

Physical abilities & exposures

• Routinely: operate vehicle and heavy machinery, squeeze, repetitive hand motion, work alone in remote locations with arms above shoulder level, bend, stoop, stand, walk, climb stairs and lift greater than 55 pounds
• Occasionally: work in confined spaces, use ladder, keyboard and mouse
