Job summary

Phoenix Communications is hiring a Splice Groundman - Nights to support fusion splicing, verification testing, troubleshooting and fiber optic cable repair for our Northeast operations. You will maintain trucks, handle splice cases, ensure safety and follow customer network requirements on site in Massachusetts.

Requirements include a valid driver's license, color vision, DOT physical, ability to work at height or in confined spaces, and 2–4 years of experience.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• Valid Driver's License and color vision required.
• DOT physical and RMV driving record required.

A Splice Groundman- Nights is primary responsible for supporting the Splice Tech completing fusion splicing, verification testing, troubleshooting and fiber optic cable repair. The Splicing Technician is responsible for day-to-day operations and maintenance of company equipment as well as manual labor needed to support the construction operations of Phoenix Communications as well as, ongoing commitment to deliver outstanding service, sustainable sales growth, and financial profitability. The Groundman, takes care of the truck, checks inventory, racks/unracks splice cases overhead and underground.

Specifically, you would be responsible for performing the following tasks to the highest standards:

• Maintaining the truck, stocking, cleaning work areas
• Retrieving splice cases from overhead and underground locations
• Maintaining a safe work environment
• Follow all customer requirements while working on any customer networks
• Perform heavy physical labor

Requirements

• Valid Driver's License
• Be able to differentiate between colors
• DOT physical and RMV driving record required
• Able to work at height or within confined spaces
• 2 to 4 years' experience preferred
• Must be available to work any shift and On-call rotation required
• Strong in person and electronic communication skills
• Must be willing to work nights/overnights
• Have the ability to travel up to 50% of time, including overnight(s)
