Job summary

University Orthopedics in Rhode Island is seeking a full-time NP/PA to join a high-volume spine, sports, and joint practice. The role involves evaluation and nonoperative management of musculoskeletal conditions, operating within a team of physicians.

Responsible for independent patient evaluation, routine outpatient procedures, and collaboration with supervising physicians. Travel to other University Orthopedics sites may be required.

Qualifications

• Must be licensed as a Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant in the State of Rhode Island.
• Minimum 2 years experience as a NP/PA, orthopedic preferred.
• Interpersonal skills including excellent communication skills to deal effectively with staff, patients, and physicians in a knowledgeable, professional, and courteous manner
• Professional, pleasant, and enthusiastic demeanor.
• Ability to maintain confidentiality of patient records.
• Attends required meetings and participates in committees as requested.
• Participates in professional development activities to keep current with health care trends and practices.

Responsibilities

• Maintain an independent schedule and evaluate patients independently as well as under the direction of the supervising physicians.
• Perform routine outpatient procedures.
• Access, diagnose, and treat acute and chronic care patients.
• Assist physician in examining and diagnosing skeletal and joint problems.
• Order and interpret test results and recommended treatment of patients.
• Administer injections as needed when indicated.
• Pre and post-procedure follow-up and patient evaluation.
• Consult for pharmaceutical or interventional treatments.
• Write scripts and patient education.
• Evaluate X-ray, CT scan, and MRI.
• Other duties as assigned to meet practice needs.
• May need to travel to other UOI sites when needed.
