Job summary

VB Spine is seeking a Development Engineer to join our R&D team. Based in Leesburg, VA or Allendale, NJ with up to 15% travel, you will design and verify components for spinal implants and instrumentation, collaborating with multi‑functional teams to support product evolution and regulatory updates.

You’ll interface with surgeons to translate input into design, develop documentation such as Design History Files, and contribute to risk management while learning industry standards and sustaining

Qualifications

• Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering, Biomedical Engineering, or related discipline; Master’s preferred.
• 1+ year in medical device field; Co-Op/internship acceptable.
• Basic experience with Creo or SolidWorks CAD.
• Ability to read complex drawings; basic knowledge of analysis tools.

Responsibilities

• Interface with surgeons to gather design input and evaluate products.
• Collaborate with R&D, Quality, Manufacturing, Regulatory, Clinical, Marketing, and PM teams to ensure project success.
• Design, develop, modify, evaluate, and verify components for medical devices.
• Participate in and support cadaver labs to evaluate designs and user needs.
• Prepare information for invention disclosures and patent applications.
