Job summary

VB Spine in Leesburg, VA is seeking a Project Engineer in our R&D Spine division. You will design, develop, and verify mechanical components for medical devices, lead small projects, and collaborate with cross-functional teams to advance sustaining products.

Responsibilities include translating design inputs into specifications, prototyping, design reviews, and ensuring compliance with design controls, risk management, and regulatory files. Hybrid, with travel as needed.

Qualifications

• BS in Mechanical or Biomedical Engineering (MS preferred).
• Minimum 2 years of relevant experience.
• Working knowledge of mechanical engineering practices and design principles.
• Experience with GD&T and CAE tools.
• Experience with parametric CAD (Creo or SolidWorks).
• Knowledge of materials and manufacturing processes.
• Familiarity with design controls in regulated industry.
• Basic project management and ability to lead small projects.
• Strong technical communication skills.
• Ability to work with limited supervision.

Responsibilities

• Interface with surgeons to gather input for design and evaluation of products.
• Develop innovative solutions meeting customer needs based on surgical procedures.
• Design, develop, modify, and verify mechanical components for medical devices.
• Collaborate with R&D, Quality, Manufacturing, Regulatory, Clinical, Marketing, and PM teams.
• Lead design reviews and change control initiatives as applicable.
• Create and refine engineering documentation including DHF, Change Control, NC/CAPA, regulatory files.
