Job summary

Intensive Specialty Hospital in Shreveport, LA, is seeking a Speech-Language Pathologist (SLP) to evaluate cognitive communication and swallowing, and to provide goal-oriented therapy focused on maximizing function. The LTAC setting offers diverse patient experiences and opportunities for professional growth.

The role requires an ASHA-certified SLP with a graduate degree, current state license, and strong English communication skills; 1–2 years LTAC/rehabilitation experience is preferred.

Qualifications

• ASHA-certified SLP with graduate training in speech-language pathology.
• Must hold state licensure and renewals per state board.
• 1–2 years of LTAC/rehabilitation experience preferred.
• Proficient in reading/writing/speaking English; strong communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Perform comprehensive evaluation of cognitive communication and swallowing function.
• Provide goal-directed treatment to maximize communication and swallowing function.
• Collaborate with therapy team to develop and implement plans of care.
• Document patient progress and prepare discharge/goal achievement summaries.

Intensive Specialty Hospital is a Long-Term Acute Care (LTAC) hospital. We provide cardiopulmonary care, ventilator and respiratory care, complex wound care, rehabilitation therapies, addiction medicine program, geriatric psychiatry program, multidisciplinary pain program, and outpatient counseling program. With four locations, Shreveport Campus, Bossier City Campus, North Campus, and Pierremont, we are the largest provider of LTAC services in Northwest Louisiana.

The Speech Therapist is responsible for providing a comprehensive evaluation of cognitive communication skills and/or swallowing function and provide goal-oriented treatment to facilitate maximum communication and/or swallowing function potential.

Qualifications:

• Graduate from an accredited American Speech-Language Hearing Associations program satisfying the ASHA certification, Masters' Degree preferred
• Must hold a current state license and must maintain license renewal in accordance with the applicable State Licensing Board.
• One to two years speech therapy experience, long term acute care and rehabilitation experience preferred.
• Must be able to read, write, and speak English, as well as possess good verbal and written communications skills.
