Job summary

NOVO Rehabilitation is seeking a Speech-Language Pathologist to serve geriatric residents at Hillcrest in Blackwell, OK. The SLP will address swallowing, cognition, speech, and voice issues to improve quality of life while respecting residents and families.

The role requires a Master’s degree in Speech-Language Pathology, OK licensure, and experience with older adults. Strong documentation and teamwork with caregivers are essential to provide compliant, high-quality care.

Qualifications

• Master’s degree in speech-language pathology from an accredited program.
• Current, active licensure in OK as a Speech-Language Pathologist.
• Experience with older adults across diagnostic groups preferred.
• Ability to complete documentation efficiently to meet reimbursement and regulatory requirements.

Responsibilities

• Provides quality speech therapy services to geriatric residents.
• Evaluates data and ensures treatment reflects safety and well-being.
• Adjusts diet/liquid textures for safe, least restrictive diets.
• Educates patient, family, and staff to enable carryover of therapy.
• Completes daily treatment notes, progress notes, recerts, and discharges per Medicare guidelines.

Responsibilities

The Speech‑Language Pathologist is responsible for recognizing and addressing deficits associated with diagnoses in the geriatric population, which may be related to swallowing, cognition, receptive/expressive communication, motor speech, voice, and/or fluency in order to ensure the best quality of life while safely respecting the wishes of the resident and their loved ones.

• Provides quality speech therapy services and recognizes referrals when appropriate, in accordance with established standards of practice, company procedures, therapy department procedures, and productivity standards


• Evaluates and obtains data necessary to ensure treatment implementation that reflects the safety and overall well‑being of the individual


• Recognizes the need for and modification of (if necessary) diet/liquid textures to ensure the safest, least restrictive diet of the residents


• Educates/coordinates with the patient, family, outside contractors, and/or staff as needed regarding appropriate speech‑language procedures to allow carryover of therapeutic remediation and goals in daily activities


• Completes required daily treatment notes, progress notes, recertifications, and discharges to justify skilled necessity and to ensure best quality of care per Medicare guidelines

Requirements

• Master’s degree in speech‑language pathology from an accredited SLP master’s program


• Must have a passing score on the national examination for the Praxis Exam in Audiology and Speech‑Language Pathology (will consider CFY at the discretion of the company)


• Current, active licensure in the state of OK as a Speech‑Language Pathologist


• Uphold state required CEU’s in order to maintain good standing with the board


• Must be able to complete documentation efficiently to meet reimbursement and regulatory requirements


• Therapeutic experience in older adults across multiple diagnostic groups is preferred


• Valid driver’s license, and an automobile in good working condition with appropriate insurance coverage in accordance with state laws
