Job summary

Kaiser Permanente in California is hiring a Speech-Language Pathologist to provide diagnostic and therapeutic speech therapy services under supervision. You will collaborate with the director and clinical supervisor to deliver high-quality patient care in a hospital or clinic setting.

The role requires a graduate degree in Speech-Language Pathology, California licensure, BLS, and a valid NPI at hire. CCC-SLP from ASHA is preferred; two years of post-licensure experience is required.

Qualifications

  • Graduate of an accredited speech-language pathology curriculum with a Bachelor, Master or Doctoral degree and certification in Speech Language Pathology (CCC-SLP) or foreign-trained equivalent.
  • California Speech-Language Pathologist license required at hire; Basic Life Support (BLS) certification also required; National Provider Identifier (NPI) at hire; ASHA Certification (CCC-SLP) preferred or required by program.

Responsibilities

  • Provides speech therapy services under the direction of the Director/Clinical Supervisor or designee.
  • Participates in department in-services and staff mentoring; may serve as clinical instructor.
  • Identifies opportunities for process improvement and new clinical practice models; participates in performance improvement projects.

Job Summary:

Provides speech therapy services for patients under the direction and supervision of the Director, Assistant Director, and or Clinical Supervisor or designee.

Essential Responsibilities:
  • Assumes the responsibility as outlined in the Speech Therapists I job summary and responsibilities.
  • Provides department in-service as requested by management (e.g., journal club presentation, and or regular in-service presentation).
  • Serves as a clinical instructor as requested by management.
  • Assists in orientation and training of employees as needed.
  • Provides consultation to staff.
  • May act as a mentor for staff.
  • May provide input into the clinical competency of staff.
  • Identifies process Improvement opportunities.
  • May assist in the development and implementation of new clinical practice models for the delivery of care.
  • Participates in performance improvement projects or other committees as requested by management.
  • May be involved in the clinical competency of SLP Assistants and Rehab Aides.
  • May monitor the work of contract therapists and the treatment of patients in Kaiser and non-Kaiser facilities.
  • Performs other duties as required within scope of practice.
Basic Qualifications:
Experience
  • Minimum of (2) years experience as a Speech Language Pathologist after attaining your certificate of clinical competence.
Education
  • Graduate of an accredited speech language pathology curriculum with a Bachelor or Master or Doctoral degree with certification in Speech Language Pathology or foreign trained equivalent.
License, Certification, Registration
  • Speech-Language Pathologist License (California) required at hire

  • Basic Life Support

  • National Provider Identifier required at hire

  • Clinical Competence in Speech-Language Pathology Certificate required at hire from American Speech/Language and Hearing Association
Additional Requirements:
  • Knowledge of federal, state, and local requirements.
  • Must be able to work in a Labor/Management Partnership environment.

Preferred Qualifications:
  • ASHA certified mentor preferred
