Job summary

Kaiser Permanente in Oakland is seeking a Speech-Language Pathologist to provide therapy services under supervision of the Director or Clinical Supervisor. You will deliver direct patient care, document per requirements, participate in multidisciplinary rounds, and refer to other providers when needed.

Must have CFY internship completed by hire date; hold a CA SLP license, ASHA CCC-SLP, NPI and BLS; familiarity with state and federal requirements; ability to work in a Labor/Management

Qualifications

  • CFY internship required by date of hire.
  • CA Speech-Language Pathologist license required at hire.
  • ASHA CCC-SLP certification required at hire.
  • Must have NPI and BLS certifications.

Responsibilities

  • Provide speech-language pathology services to patients.
  • Document services accurately per state and program requirements.
  • Participate in multidisciplinary rounds and case conferences.
  • Refer patients to appropriate providers when within scope.
  • Support department education and guidance as needed.
  • Assist in orientation and training of staff.

Job description

Qualified candidates may have the opportunity to participate in our student loan repayment program, which can repay up to $20,000, subject to eligibility and program guidelines.

Job Summary:

Provides speech therapy services for patients under the direction and supervision of the Director, Assistant Director, and or Clinical Supervisor or designee.

Essential Responsibilities:
  • Deliver Direct Patient Care Consistent with the provisions of the Speech-Language Pathologists and Audiologists and Hearing Aid Dispensers Licensure Act, licensing bodies, and Kaiser Permanente HealthPlan.
  • Provides accurate and timely documentation of services provided per State and Federal requirements and relevant medical group and health plan policies and guidelines.
  • Participates in multidisciplinary clinics, patient care rounds, and case management conferences as requested by management.
  • Refers patient to appropriate medical providers when care is outside of scope of practice.
  • May instruct patient education classes and/or groups as requested by management.
  • May provide department in-service as requested by management e.g., journal club presentation, regular in-service presentation.
  • May serve as a clinical instructor as requested by management.
  • May provide consultation to staff.
  • May act as a mentor for staff.
  • May assist in orientation and training of employees as needed.
  • May participate in performance improvement projects or other committees as requested by management.
  • May be involved in the clinical competency of SLP Assistants and Rehab Aides.
  • May monitor the work of contract therapists and the treatment of patients in Kaiser and non-Kaiser facilities.
  • Performs other duties as required within scope of practice.
Basic Qualifications:
Experience
  • Completion of a Speech Clinical Fellowship Year (CFY) Internship required by date of hire.
Education
  • Graduate of an accredited speech language pathology curriculum with a Bachelor or Master or Doctoral degree with certification in Speech Language Pathology or foreign trained equivalent.
License, Certification, Registration
  • Speech-Language Pathologist License (California) required at hire
  • National Provider Identifier required at hire
  • Basic Life Support
  • Clinical Competence in Speech-Language Pathology Certificate required at hire from American Speech/Language and Hearing Association
Additional Requirements:
  • Knowledge of federal, state, and local requirements.
  • Must be able to work in a Labor/Management Partnership environment.
