Job summary

Kaiser Permanente in California seeks an experienced Speech-Language Pathologist to provide therapy services under supervision and contribute to staff development and training. The role includes in-service presentations, mentoring, and clinical instruction as part of a collaborative care team.

Credentialed SLPs will work with patients across Kaiser facilities, participate in performance improvement projects, and support a range of clinical practice models.

Qualifications

  • Minimum of 2 years of experience as a Speech-Language Pathologist after earning your CCC-SLP.
  • Graduate of an accredited SLP program with Bachelor, Master, or Doctoral degree and certification in Speech-Language Pathology.
  • California SLP license required at hire; Basic Life Support; National Provider Identifier at hire; ASHA Certificate of Clinical Competence required at hire.

Responsibilities

  • Provides speech therapy services under supervision of Director/Assistant Director/Clinical Supervisor or designee.
  • Provides department in-service as requested by management (e.g., journal club, in-service presentations).
  • Acts as clinical instructor as requested by management.
  • Assists in orientation and training of employees.
  • Provides consultation to staff and may mentor staff.
  • Identifies opportunities for process improvement and new clinical practice models.
  • Monitors contract therapists and patient care in Kaiser and non-Kaiser facilities.
  • Performs other duties within scope of practice.

Job Summary:

Provides speech therapy services for patients under the direction and supervision of the Director, Assistant Director, and or Clinical Supervisor or designee.

Essential Responsibilities:
  • Assumes the responsibility as outlined in the Speech Therapists I job summary and responsibilities.
  • Provides department in-service as requested by management (e.g., journal club presentation, and or regular in-service presentation).
  • Serves as a clinical instructor as requested by management.
  • Assists in orientation and training of employees as needed.
  • Provides consultation to staff.
  • May act as a mentor for staff.
  • May provide input into the clinical competency of staff.
  • Identifies process Improvement opportunities.
  • May assist in the development and implementation of new clinical practice models for the delivery of care.
  • Participates in performance improvement projects or other committees as requested by management.
  • May be involved in the clinical competency of SLP Assistants and Rehab Aides.
  • May monitor the work of contract therapists and the treatment of patients in Kaiser and non-Kaiser facilities.
  • Performs other duties as required within scope of practice.
Basic Qualifications:

Experience

  • Minimum of (2) years experience as a Speech Language Pathologist after attaining your certificate of clinical competence.

Education

  • Graduate of an accredited speech language pathology curriculum with a Bachelor or Master or Doctoral degree with certification in Speech Language Pathology or foreign trained equivalent.

License, Certification, Registration

  • Speech-Language Pathologist License (California) required at hire
  • Basic Life Support
  • National Provider Identifier required at hire
  • Clinical Competence in Speech-Language Pathology Certificate required at hire from American Speech/Language and Hearing Association
Additional Requirements:
  • Knowledge of federal, state, and local requirements.
  • Must be able to work in a Labor/Management Partnership environment.
Preferred Qualifications:
  • ASHA certified mentor preferred
