Job summary

Kaiser Permanente is seeking a Speech-Language Pathologist to provide therapy services under supervision, while actively engaging in staff education and mentoring. The role supports department leadership and clinical supervision across the patient care team.

Qualified candidates will hold a California SLP license, and have a Master’s degree in Speech-Language Pathology with CCC-SLP certification or eligibility.

Qualifications

• Must have a Master’s degree in Speech-Language Pathology and be licensed in California.
• ASHA CCC-SLP certification preferred or required
• Minimum 2 years of experience as an SLP after CCC would be expected

Responsibilities

• Provide speech therapy services under supervision as directed by department leadership.
• Lead in-service presentations and staff training as requested by management.
• Serve as a clinical instructor and mentor for staff and new hires.
• Assist in orientation and training of employees and provide consultation to staff.
• Identify opportunities for process improvement and participate in performance improvement initiatives.

Job Summary:

Provides speech therapy services for patients under the direction and supervision of the Director, Assistant Director, and or Clinical Supervisor or designee.

Essential Responsibilities:

• Assumes the responsibility as outlined in the Speech Therapists I job summary and responsibilities.
• Provides department in-service as requested by management (e.g., journal club presentation, and or regular in-service presentation).
• Serves as a clinical instructor as requested by management.
• Assists in orientation and training of employees as needed.
• Provides consultation to staff.
• May act as a mentor for staff.
• May provide input into the clinical competency of staff.
• Identifies process Improvement opportunities.
• May assist in the development and implementation of new clinical practice models for the delivery of care.
• Participates in performance improvement projects or other committees as requested by management.
• May be involved in the clinical competency of SLP Assistants and Rehab Aides.
• May monitor the work of contract therapists and the treatment of patients in Kaiser and non-Kaiser facilities.
• Performs other duties as required within scope of practice.

Basic Qualifications:

Experience

• Minimum of (2) years experience as a Speech Language Pathologist after attaining your certificate of clinical competence.

Education

• Graduate of an accredited speech language pathology curriculum with a Bachelor or Master or Doctoral degree with certification in Speech Language Pathology or foreign trained equivalent.

License, Certification, Registration

• Speech-Language Pathologist License (California) required at hire
• Basic Life Support
• National Provider Identifier required at hire
• Clinical Competence in Speech-Language Pathology Certificate required at hire from American Speech/Language and Hearing Association

Additional Requirements:

• Knowledge of federal, state, and local requirements.
• Must be able to work in a Labor/Management Partnership environment.

Preferred Qualifications:

• ASHA certified mentor preferred
