Responsibilities

The Speech Therapist in Home Health assesses and evaluates patient needs related to speech and language disorders, including communication, swallowing, and cognitive impairments.

• Provide services within the scope of practice defined by state laws, in accordance with the care plan, and in coordination with the healthcare team.
• Evaluate patient function levels using diagnostic and prognostic tests and assist physicians in developing the therapy plan of care.
• Treat patients to improve communication effectiveness based on their condition and standards of practice.
• Instruct patients, families, caregivers, and healthcare team members in speech therapy-related areas they can participate in.

Education and Experience

License Requirements

• Must be currently licensed in Speech Therapy in Alabama.
• Current CPR certification.
• Must have a valid driver’s license, vehicle insurance, and access to a dependable vehicle or reliable transportation.
