Job summary

Palmdale Regional Medical Center, part of Universal Health Services, is seeking a Speech-Language Pathologist to join its acute-care team in Palmdale, CA. This role focuses on diagnostic, evaluative, and therapeutic procedures for patients with speech, language, and swallowing disorders.

Qualified candidates hold a Master’s Degree in Speech-Language Pathology, California licensure, and a current BLS certificate. ASHA certification or CFY supervision is preferred.

Qualifications

• Master’s Degree in Speech-Language Pathology from an accredited program.
• California licensure to practice speech pathology required.
• Current BLS certificate required; ASHA certification or CFY supervised pathway encouraged.

Position Description:

Responsible for the diagnostic, evaluative, and therapeutic procedures for the treatment of those disabled by illness or injury when prescribed by a licensed physician. Provides speech and language treatments to patients.

Job Duties/Responsibilities Requirements:

• One year work experience in the acute hospital setting preferred.
• Experience in diagnosing and treating swallow disorders.
• Ability to analyze test results to determine patients’ communicative abilities and to determine necessary therapy.
• Completion of Master’s Degree required in Speech-Language Pathology from an accredited educational institution.
• License to practice speech pathology by the California State Board of Medical Examiners and Certificate of clinical competence (ASHA) or a RPE/CFY applicant supervised by licensed Speech Pathologist following State and ASHA guidelines
• Current BLS Certificate required.
