Wayne-Finger Lakes BOCES is seeking a Speech Therapist for the Bloomfield Education Center. Compensation reflects a salary range of $52,341–$61,805 based on experience, with September 1, 2026 start date.

The role includes direct work with students who may have autism or other disabilities, collaboration with staff, and ongoing progress reporting. Benefits include NYS retirement, paid holidays, and health and dental insurance.

Qualifications

• NYS Speech Therapist Certification is required.
• NYS Speech-Language Pathologist license is preferred.
• Preference will be given to candidates with experience working with students with autism, emotional and/or developmental disabilities.
• Knowledge of NYS Learning Standards and Assessments.
• Ability to work collaboratively as a member of a team.
• Excellent written and oral communication skills.

Responsibilities

Depending on location, this position may involve direct work with students with autism, emotional and/or developmental disabilities which may include, but are not limited to, oppositional and aggressive behaviors; mood disorders; and potentially severe and unpredictable physical and/or verbal outbursts.

1. Have ability to work with a diverse population of students.
2. Provide students with a safe, orderly environment that is conducive to teaching and learning.
3. Provide specialized instruction to students with emotional and learning disabilities.
4. Collaborate with colleagues and provide resources to meet student learning needs.
5. Communicate regularly and effectively with parents.
6. Record and report student progress.

Qualifications

Candidates should possess a broad skill set of effective teaching and learning to engage learners of all levels including, but not limited to:

• Ability to work collaboratively as a member of a team.
• Excellent written and oral communication skills.
• Promoting equity and culturally responsive practices to create inclusive environments.

Physical Requirements

Job responsibility may require individual to do one and two person lifts and/or physical interventions on a daily basis with students weighing 50-200 pounds. Position requires the successful completion of all elements of Therapeutic Crisis Intervention (TCI) training. Initial and refresher TCI Trainings are provided by W-FL BOCES.
