Job Summary

Maintains minimum requirements of a master’s degree in Speech-Language Pathology, current MS SLP license, and current Certificate of Clinical Competence or CFY. Provides direct and indirect patient care for adult and pediatric patients in a variety of settings to include performing evaluations, developing treatment plans, providing appropriate treatment, and planning discharge per standards set by the American Speech-Language Hearing Association. Communicates with physicians, nurses, dieticians, social workers, co-workers, and caretakers regarding patient assessment, recommendations, plan and prognosis.

Professional Responsibilities

• Appropriately administers and interprets standardized assessments for articulation, language, and cognitive skills.
• Establish appropriate diet recommendations and compensatory strategies based on clinical dysphagia assessment.
• Establishes appropriate and pertinent plan of care based on chart review, diagnosis, and clinical findings.
• Accurately and efficiently completes E-Care documentation.
• Meets CEU requirements for assigned intervals to maintain current, valid MS State Dept of Health license and ASHA CCC or CFY.
• Actively participates in the department’s performance improvement (PI) activities.
• Adheres to and utilizes appropriate infection control policies.
• Participates in orientation of new personnel.
• Attends mandatory staff meetings and remains current with HealthStream requirements.
• Meets annual requirements as defined by the facility.

Qualifications

Education and Experience

• Current MS state license.
• Current ASHA CCC-SLP.
• CPR certification.

Working Conditions

• Physical Demands include frequent standing, walking, talking, hearing, lifting, and visual requirements.
• Work environment involves occasional exposure to moving or mechanical parts, outdoor weather conditions, electric shock, radiation, and moderate noise levels.
