Job summary

Healthcare Staffing Professionals has an immediate need for a Speech Language Pathologist to work in a state hospital located in Terrell, TX. You will assess, diagnose, treat, and help prevent communication and swallowing disorders under the supervision of the Clinical Director.

The position offers a part-time schedule (Mon, Wed, Fri; 8:00 AM–5:00 PM) with a pay rate of $35/hr and benefits including medical, dental, and vision insurance, a 401(k) plan, and employer-paid life insurance.

Qualifications

  • Master's Degree in Speech Language Pathology required.
  • Texas license to practice SLP (TDLR) required.
  • Current CPR/BCLS certification required.
  • HIPAA compliance and patient confidentiality must be maintained.

Responsibilities

  • Swallowing assessment and diagnosis planning with treatment team.
  • Re-evaluate and adjust treatment plans as needed.
  • Document patient progress clearly in medical records.
  • Ensure documentation timely per facility requirements.
  • Comply with HHSC, Joint Commission, CMS standards and facility directives.

Job description

Healthcare Staffing Professionals has an immediate need for a Speech Language Pathologist to work in a state hospital located in Terrell, TX. Speech Language Pathologist (SLP) is responsible for the delivery of quality care to patients. Involving assessing, diagnosing, treating, and helping to prevent communication and swallowing disorders. Work with patients to develop and strengthen the muscles used to swallow to prevent choking, under the supervision of the Clinical Director.

Pay Rate: $35/hr

Location: Terrell, TX

Schedule: Monday - Wednesday - Friday (Actual days are flexible) | 8:00AM - 5:00 PM | Part-Time Position Available

Job Duties
  • Swallowing assessment includes accurate history taking, examination, direct patient observation, and collaboration with a treatment team/attending physician leading to the establishment of a diagnosis and treatment plan.
  • Performs periodic re-evaluation of the patient as necessary and makes adjustments in the patient's treatment plan as needed in accordance with physician goals and orders.
  • Documentation in patient's medical record is clear, concise, and identifies target symptoms.
  • Frequency of documentation is appropriate to level of care patient required and addresses referrals as appropriate to internal departments and referrals to outside providers.
  • Compliance with HHSC and facility documentation timeframe requirements.
  • Provides and monitors facility Standard Operating Procedures to meet standards for compliance with accrediting agencies; specifically Joint Commission guidelines, CMS Standards, TSH Policy and Directives and facility Standards, Rules and Directives.
License, Certification, Or Registration Required
  • Current and unrestricted license to practice Speech Language Pathology with the State of Texas through TDLR
  • Must be certified by the American Heart Association -BLS in cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) and maintain that certification while providing services at the Terrell State Hospital.
  • Copies of CPR certifications must be kept on file with TSH's Contracting office.
  • All certifications must be current and remain as such while providing services
Requirements
  • Master's Degree in Speech Language Pathology.
  • Current and unrestricted license to practice Speech Language Pathology with the State of Texas through TDLR.
  • Current CPR/BCLS certification.
  • Educated and compliant with all HIPPA regulations; maintains strict client confidentiality.
  • Must be willing to work at Terrell State Hospital, a mental health facility with patients that may have a dual diagnosis.
  • Must abide by the rules, regulations, and policies of HHSC and Terrell State Hospital.
  • Must abide by staffing agency and TSH's attendance and leave policy
  • Must comply with HHSC immunization requirements
  • COVID-19 testing with negative result required
  • COVID-19 Vaccination Card, if applicable
  • Must submit to HHSC required drug test
  • Must submit to HHSC required fingerprinting and background check
  • Must complete facility and HHSC required training
