Job summary

Shriners Children's in St. Louis, MO, is seeking a Speech-Language Pathologist (SLP) to join our Pediatric Inpatient Rehabilitation Unit.

You will provide evaluations, treatment plans, and family-centered education alongside a Pediatric Physiatrist in a multidisciplinary team. The successful candidate will hold a Master's in Speech Pathology, Missouri SLP license, CCCs, and ideally 1 year of pediatric experience; bilingual English/Spanish is preferred.

Job Description

The Speech-Language Pathologist (SLP) engages in the professional practice of communication and swallowing. You willprovide evaluations, treatment plans, education and training to meet the cognitive, communication and swallowing needs of our patients. The primary role will be to work alongside the Pediatric Physiatrist in a multidisciplinary environment to provide intensive function-based therapy in the Inpatient Rehabilitation Unit. The successful candidate will get the opportunity to learn and grow in their practice by being exposed to burns, orthopaedic, acute care, outpatient settings, and program development.

Key Responsibilities:

• Upon receiving a licensed independent practitioner referral, implements a systematic patient examination and evaluation utilizing a comprehensive, patient and family-centered approach to decision making incorporating national standards and the AMA CPT codes.


• SLP will design, develop and implement individualized treatment plans to address presenting symptoms or concerns of a communication and/or swallowingproblem or related functional issue to optimize function.


• Makes appropriate discharge plans by collaborating with patients, their families, care management, and community resources such as schools/outside therapy clinics, and actively participating in multidisciplinary meetings.


• Supports risk management and compliance initiatives through accurate thorough documentation.

Required Qualification:

• Masters degree in Speech Pathology


• SLP license in state of Missouri


• Certificate of Clinical Competence (CCC’s)

Preferred Qualifications:

• 1 year experience in a pediatric setting


• Bilingual English/Spanish

The pay range for this position is $80,912.00 - $121,388.80. Compensation is determined based on years of relevant experience and departmental equity.
