Willmar Public Schools is seeking a Head Middle School Speech Coach to lead, teach, and mentor students in speaking, interpretation, and presentation across multiple speech events.

The season runs from November through February with after-school practices, travel to tournaments, and occasional weekend commitments. The role carries a $3,434 seasonal stipend and requires passing a pre-employment background check.

Qualifications

• Must be able to be at practice by 3:00 PM.
• Must be capable of attending weekend tournaments.
• Experience coaching and/or participating in speech at the high school level is preferred.

Variable

Schedule (Approximately)

Practice starts in the middle of November, and continues into February. The team practices at Willmar Middle School and Willmar High School, Monday through Friday from 3:00-4:30 PM. The team will host 1 weekend tournament, 1 weeknight tournament, and will travel to 5 weekend tournaments. On weekend tournament days, coaches are potentially responsible for students between 6:00 AM and 7:00 PM depending on the location of the competition and a variety of other factors. On Weeknight tournaments, coaches are potentially responsible for students from 3:00-8:00 PM.

Seasonal - 2026-2027 Winter Activity Season

Benefits for this position are limited due to the limited and variable nature of the role. Benefits may be adjusted as the role becomes a long-term position.
