Job summary

NHS Lothian is recruiting for an SLT assistant (Band 4) to join the Speech and Language Therapy Service for Children and Young People. The post supports the CYP team across RHCYP and AAC Lothian, providing therapeutic interventions under supervision and contributing to resource development.

You will help deliver inclusive communication training, assist with admin tasks, and work across settings with both children and adults using powered AAC devices as needed.

Qualifications

• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills are essential.
• Experience working with children and young people is desirable.
• Ability to work collaboratively within multidisciplinary teams.

Responsibilities

• Support general acute CYP team with therapeutic interventions under supervision.
• Contribute to development of clinical resources and training on inclusive communication.
• Assist with a range of administrative activities to ensure a high-quality service.
• Work with the Paediatric Major Trauma Centre rehab team on quality improvement projects.
• Assist in the AAC Lothian equipment loan bank and support use of powered AAC devices.
