Job summary

Speech Language Pathology Assistant - Special Services

Location: Putnam City Special Services, Oklahoma City, Oklahoma

Job Description

A Speech‑Language Pathology Assistant (SLPA) will assist speech‑language pathologists in screening, assessment, treatment, and research activities, support program data collection, and conduct in‑service training and family/community education.

Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree in speech‑language pathology or communication disorders program, or associate’s degree in SLPA program.
  • Successful completion of at least 100 hours of supervised field work or equivalent clinical experience and demonstration of competency required of an SLPA.
  • Minimum of three years of recent experience working with children.
  • Experience and knowledge in providing staff development and training to a variety of audiences.
Responsibilities
  • Assist SLPs in conducting client screenings or assessments of language, voice, fluency, articulation, or hearing.
  • Implement treatment plans or protocols directed by SLPs.
  • Assist in remediation or development of speech and language skills.
  • Collect and compile data to document client performance or assess program quality.
  • Document client progress toward established treatment objectives.
  • Maintain equipment to ensure correct performance.
  • Assist SLPs in conducting speech‑language research projects.
  • Conduct in‑service training sessions, or family and community education programs.
  • Perform support duties such as preparing materials, keeping records, maintaining supplies, and scheduling activities.
  • Prepare charts, graphs, or other visual displays to communicate client performance information.
  • Select or prepare speech‑language instructional materials.
Terms of Employment

Duration: Nine‑month year. Salary to be established by Board of Education. Employment is full‑time. Termination and performance evaluation will follow Board policy.

Evaluation

Performance will be evaluated annually in accordance with Board policy.
