We are seeking a passionate and dedicated Speech-Language Pathology Assistant (SLPA) to support the speech and language development of children with hearing loss. The SLPA will work under the supervision of licensed Speech-Language Pathologists to implement therapy plans, assist with assessments, and support classroom integration, contributing to each child’s communication success.
Essential Functions and Duties
- Conduct speech and language and hearing screenings using protocols developed by the supervising Speech- Language Pathologist (SLP);
- Implement the treatment program or the individual education plan (IEP) as designed by the supervising licensed speech-language pathologist.
- Document student progress toward meeting established objectives, and reports the information to the SLP;
- Assist the SLP during assessments, assisting with formal documentation, preparing materials, and performing clerical duties;
- Prepare therapy materials and/or equipment for use in the classroom and therapy activities;
- Work with classroom teachers to implement classroom activities to improve communication skills of students.
- Assist in maintaining student records, tallying data, preparing charts, records, graphs, and reports;
- Assist in organizing classroom activities such as displaying educational materials, arranging furniture to facilitate instructional requirements, and creates an orderly and clean learning environment;
- Compile, maintain, and file all reports, records, and other documents required including maintaining clinical records in accordance with federal and state laws and regulations.
- Attend and participate in staff meetings and training provided to increase professional knowledge, as applicable.
- Comply with policies established by federal and state laws, State Board of Education rule, and board policy.
- Comply with all district and campus routines and regulations.

- Perform other duties as assigned
Note: The SLPA is NOT able to conduct evaluations, interpret data, create or alter IEP goals, or perform any task without the express knowledge and approval of supervising SLP.

- Speech and language pathology equipment, materials, and procedures.
- Typical speech, language, and hearing development.
- Language disorders and rehabilitation.
- Articulation disorders and rehabilitation.
- Acquired disorders and rehabilitation.
- Learning patterns in children.
- Student behavior management techniques and strategies.
- Learning problems of children with special education needs.
- Bilingual - English/Spanish preferred.
- Demonstrate excellent oral and written communication skills and the ability to communicate effectively with a diverse group of colleagues, parents, families, and community members
- Deal effectively with attitudes and behaviors of students.
- Effectively and tactfully communicate in both oral and written forms.
