Job summary

Qualifications

• Current licensure as a Speech Pathologist issued by the Speech-Language Pathology and Audiology Board
• Appointees must complete RQI Responder certification within 30 days of employment and maintain competency
• Employees must meet health requirements designated by Kern Medical
• Other unit specific certification may be required

Responsibilities

• Provide services including evaluation, diagnosis, goal setting, treatment planning, individual therapy, and family/patient education and training
• Perform assessment management of dysphagia including bedside swallowing evaluation and modified barium swallow study
• Develop and implement an individualized treatment program with achievable functional goals
• Instruct staff and supervise according to regulations
• Document assessments and treatment in the chart using prescribed formats
• Orient patients to program services and inform of risks
• Collaborate with nursing staff, patients, and families to maximize functional abilities
• Educate patients and families on post-discharge therapeutic procedures
• Assist in referrals for additional services and stay updated on community resources
• Participate in rehabilitation team conferences and other department meetings
• Engage in continuing education and quality improvement activities
