Qualifications

  • Valid California Speech-Language Pathologist license/credential.
  • Bachelor's degree or higher from an institution approved by the California Commission on Teacher Credentialing.
  • Master’s Degree from an ASHA-accredited university.
  • Preferred: CCC-SLP certification; State License issued by California Board.

Responsibilities

  • Screen pupils for communicative disorders and select cases according to criteria.
  • Conduct assessments using standard tests for diagnosis of communication disorders.
  • Perform triennial assessments of speech/language deficits and refer preschool children as needed.
  • Determine eligibility for services in articulation/phonology, voice, fluency, and language.
  • Provide written reports to parents and staff after assessments.
  • Develop, implement, and review IEPs in compliance with laws.
  • Notify relevant personnel of IEP meetings and progress.
  • Maintain relationships with parents and coordinate with community services.
  • Schedule and provide individual or group therapy as determined by IEP.
