Job Description

To enable students who require Speech and Language support to derive the fullest educational experience from school by identifying individual needs related to speech, language, articulation, expression and understanding as it relates to the student’s learning and the development of peer and social relationships.

Qualifications

• Master’s Degree earned from an accredited educational institution

Responsibilities

1. Conduct speech/language evaluations to assess articulation skills, receptive and expressive language levels
2. Prepare interpretive reports from speech/language assessment in a lucid style suitable for parents, guardians and other professionals
3. Confer directly with administrators, teachers, parents, guardians and students regarding findings and offer appropriate recommendations
4. Provide individual and/or group therapy sessions to students in assigned buildings
5. Participate actively in weekly case evaluation team conferences and offer constructive suggestions for assisting referred students
6. Contact and cooperate with personnel of medical and community based agencies to seek services for the welfare of referred students
7. Conduct periodic re‑evaluations of students as needed, requested or required by regulation
8. Attend scheduled staff meetings and committee meetings as needed
9. Interpret the school speech and language services to teachers and parents/guardians
10. Assist in developing and writing individualized educational programs (IEP) as part of a core evaluation team for students
