Job Summary :
We are seeking a licensed Speech-Language Pathologist (SLP) to provide school-based and home-based speech therapy services to students with disabilities in grades Pre-K to 12. The SLP will assess, diagnose, and implement intervention strategies to support students in achieving their educational goals.
Key Responsibilities :
- Conduct speech-language evaluations for students referred through the Committee on Special Education (CSE).
- Develop and implement Individualized Education Plans (IEPs) based on assessment results.
- Perform feeding and swallowing assessments, if required.
- Provide direct and indirect therapy to students during school hours.
- Deliver therapy sessions using evidence-based interventions aligned with ASHA principles.
- Monitor and document student progress towards IEP goals.
- Provide therapy services for homebound students, as needed.
- Maintain detailed treatment logs, progress notes, and reports using IEPDirect or school-mandated systems.
- Ensure compliance with HIPAA, FERPA, and NYS regulations regarding student data privacy.
- Participate in IEP meetings to discuss student progress and necessary interventions.
- Collaborate with teachers, parents, school administrators, and special education teams.
- Educate families and caregivers on at-home strategies to reinforce speech-language skills.
Qualifications & Requirements :
- Master’s degree in Speech-Language Pathology or Communication Disorders.
- New York State License as a Speech-Language Pathologist.
- Certificate of Clinical Competence (CCC-SLP) from ASHA preferred.
- Minimum one year of experience in a school or pediatric setting.
- Knowledge of IEP documentation and school-based therapy protocols.
- Strong interpersonal skills and ability to work with diverse student populations.
Preferred Qualifications :
- Experience with augmentative and alternative communication (AAC) devices.
- Bilingual (Spanish / English) is a plus.
- Prior experience working in New York school districts.
