Job Description

The Speech Therapist will be responsible for evaluating and treating patients in both inpatient and outpatient settings. The role involves conducting speech evaluations, cognitive assessments, and language assessments, as well as providing caregiver training. The therapist will also perform Modified Barium Swallow (MBS) studies and Passy Muir valve trials in collaboration with interdisciplinary teams.

Responsibilities

• Conduct daily speech evaluations and treatments for patients.
• Perform and assess Modified Barium Swallow (MBS) studies.
• Evaluate cognitive and language skills, both expressive and receptive.
• Train caregivers on communication strategies and techniques.
• Communicate effectively with interdisciplinary teams, including physicians and residents.
• Prioritize treatment for patients across different units, including ICU and CVIU.
• Be available for 2 weekend days a month.

Required Experience

• Must hold a Certificate of Clinical Competence (CCC) and BLS certification.
• Florida state license is required.
• Experience in performing MBS and treating patients in the ICU is essential.
