Job summary

Essentia Health in the 32nd Avenue Building seeks a Speech-Language Pathologist to evaluate, plan, treat and implement care for patients in speech, language, cognition and swallowing, in line with ASHA standards and Essentia Health policies.

Responsibilities include therapy evaluation, developing treatment plans, providing patient and caregiver education, discharge planning, and documentation, scheduling, and collaboration with a multidisciplinary team.

Qualifications

• Master's degree in Speech-Language Pathology from an accredited program.
• Current registration/license to practice speech-language pathology in the state of practice.

• Provide therapy evaluation, develop individualized treatment plans, implement evidence-based interventions, provide patient/caregiver education, and discharge planning for a full patient caseload.
• Provide all ancillary/administrative requirements for a full caseload of patients, including documentation, billing, scheduling management, and other administrative duties
• Demonstrate appropriate communication, professionalism and supervision of support staff (licensed assistants, aides, volunteers)
• Collaborate with a multidisciplinary care team to ensure optimal clinical and financial outcomes.
• Work closely with Essentia Health leadership and coordinate with referring physicians to ensure cohesive patient care.
• Meet policies and code of conduct; align with core values and ethics; flex to other departments when needed.
• May serve as clinical instructor, participate in committees, and pursue credentialing that benefits patient care.
• Work where patient need is highest (including flexing to other departments) when schedule allows

Job Description:

Evaluates, plans, treats and implements care for patients in the areas of speech, language, cognition and swallowing in accordance with professional standards of the American Speech Language and Hearing Association (ASHA) and Essentia Health's policies and procedures.

Education Qualifications:

• Master's degree from accredited speech and language pathology program

This role includes a weekend rotation once every 4 weeks (minimum), Saturday at the hospital, and Sunday on-call. Shifts may range from a half day to a full day, depending on census. This is a casual position intended to provide coverage for open shifts due to PTO, leaves of absence, and other staffing needs.

• Current registration/license to practice speech-language pathology in the state of practice
