Baylor Scott & White Institute for Rehabilitation in McKinney, Texas is seeking a compassionate Speech Language Pathologist (SLP) for acute care. This PRN position requires weekend availability and provides competitive hourly rates in a fast-paced hospital setting.

You will perform evaluations, develop treatment plans, collaborate with ICU, telemetry, and specialty units, and document in the EMR while educating patients and families about communication, swallowing, and cognition.

Qualifications

• Current state licensure or eligibility for state licensure as a Speech Language Pathologist required.
• CCC in Speech-Language Pathology from ASHA or eligibility for Certification.
• Certified BLS or completion within 90 days of employment required.
• Acute care experience, minimum one year required.
• MBSS competency strongly preferred.
• Strong communication, critical thinking and teamwork skills.

Responsibilities

• Perform comprehensive evaluations, develop individualized treatment plans and deliver interventions for patients in medical-surgical, ICU, telemetry and specialty units.
• Participate in interdisciplinary discussions and make recommendations regarding NPO status, diet levels and instrumental assessments.
• Document timely and accurately in the EMR per hospital and regulatory standards.
• Complete patient/family and staff education related to communication, cognition and swallowing.

Weekend PRN rate: $66/hr

We are seeking a compassionate and driven clinician to join our acute care team. This role is ideal for therapists who enjoy fast-paced environments, critical thinking and daily collaboration with the interdisciplinary team.

Responsibilities

• Perform comprehensive evaluations, develop individualized treatment plans and deliver skilled interventions for patients in medical-surgical, ICU, telemetry and specialty units
• Participate in interdisciplinary discussions and make recommendations regarding NPO status, diet levels and instrumental assessments
• Document timely and accurately in the electronic medical record per hospital and regulatory standards
• Completing patient/family and staff education related to communication, cognition and swallowing, as appropriate
• Contribute to quality improvement and evidence-based practice initiatives within our team

Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications

• Current state licensure or eligibility for state licensure as a Speech Language Pathologist required.
• Current Certificate of Clinical Competence (CCC) in Speech-Language Pathology from the American Speech-Language & Hearing Association or eligibility for Certification pending professional experience required.
• Certified BLS or completion in the first 90 days of employment required.
• Acute care experience, minimum one year required
• Competency with MBSS, strongly preferred
• Strong communication, critical thinking and teamwork skills
