Job summary

Tacoma Nursing and Rehabilitation Center in Tacoma, WA is seeking a skilled Speech Language Pathologist (SLP) for full-time and PRN positions to join our therapy team. You will evaluate, treat, and document speech, language, cognitive-linguistic, and swallowing needs of residents in a state-licensed skilled nursing facility.

Qualifications

• Valid Washington State license as a Speech Language Pathologist.
• Proficient with clinical documentation and basic computer skills.
• CPR certification (or ability to obtain upon hire).
• Experience in long-term care or skilled nursing preferred but not required.
• Strong communication, organizational, and interpersonal skills.
• Commitment to providing compassionate, resident-focused care.

Responsibilities

• Conduct screenings, evaluations, and ongoing assessments of residents’ speech, language, cognitive, and swallowing abilities.
• Develop and implement individualized treatment plans and goals.
• Provide therapy services that optimize residents’ communication and swallowing function.
• Build and support a strong SLP therapy program within the facility.
• Document all evaluations, treatments, progress notes, and care plans in accordance with facility and regulatory standards.
• Participate in interdisciplinary team meetings and care planning.
• Maintain a valid state SLP license and remain current with regulatory requirements.
• Follow infection control and safety procedures.
• Communicate effectively with residents, families, nursing staff, and therapy colleagues.
• Stay up to date on professional issues, continuing education, and changes in therapy regulations.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

Position Summary:
