Job summary

Oakwood Health and Rehabilitation is seeking a PRN Speech-Language Pathologist (SLP) to support recovery of speech, language, swallowing, and cognitive function for residents. The SLP will create individualized treatment plans, teach communication techniques, and educate patients and families on strategies to improve communication and prevent misunderstandings.

The role requires a Master's degree in Speech-Language Pathology, 1 year of experience, an active SLP license, and current BLS

Qualifications

  • Master's degree in Speech-Language Pathology is required.
  • One year of experience in Speech-Language Pathology is required.
  • Current state of practice Speech Language Pathology License is required.
  • Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification is required.

Responsibilities

  • Create, administer, and organize individualized treatment plans for patients.
  • Instruct clients in communication techniques, including sign language, lip reading and voice improvement.
  • Educate patients and families about communication strategies and coping with misunderstandings.
  • Coordinate with dietary staff regarding rehabilitation for swallowing disorders.

Speech Language Pathologist Position Description

The Speech Pathologist is responsible for facilitating the recovery of speech, language, swallowing and cognitive function for the patients who come through our facility.

Responsibilities of the Speech Language Pathologist (SLP):
  • Creating, administering, and organizing individualized plans of treatment for patients.
  • Instructing clients in techniques for more effective communication, including sign language, lip reading and voice improvement.
  • Educating patients and family members about various topics such as communication techniques and strategies to cope with or to avoid personal misunderstandings.
  • Communicating with the dietary department regarding rehabilitation lunches for patients with swallow dysfunctions.
Qualifications:
  • Master's degree in Speech-Language Pathology required.
  • One (1) year of experience required.
  • Current state of practice Speech Language Pathology License required.
  • Current Basic Life Support (BLS)
