Job summary

Rehab at Scottsdale Village Square, a luxury SNF in Scottsdale, AZ, seeks a Full-Time Speech Language Pathologist (SLP) to join a supportive therapy team with a dynamic DOR and flexible scheduling.

The SLP will evaluate and treat speech, language, and swallowing disorders, provide AAC systems, train staff and families, coordinate swallowing procedures, supervise CFY externs, and ensure accurate clinical documentation. A $1,000 sign-on bonus is paid in $250 installments.

Qualifications

• Current, active Speech Therapy License (required).
• Current ASHA certification.
• Knowledge of current Speech Therapy practices and procedures including laws, regulations and guidelines pertaining to nursing care facilities.

Responsibilities

• Evaluate, assess, diagnose, and treat speech, language, communication, and swallowing disorders as ordered by physician.
• Provide skilled, medically necessary speech and language therapy assessments and develop individualized treatment plans.
• Provide AAC systems for individuals with expressive and/or language disorders.
• Train clients, families, caregivers and other professionals as a subject matter expert.
• Coordinate swallowing procedures (MBSS, FEES) as ordered by physician.
• Supervise CFY externs and support personnel according to licensure requirements.
• Ensure accurate billing records and clinical documentation.
• Perform screening rounds to assess needs and safety.
• Provide recommendations for business improvement or safety.

The primary responsibility of the Speech Language Pathologist is to evaluate, assess, diagnose, and treat speech, language, communication, and swallowing disorders as ordered by physician. In this role, you are entrusted to ensure that the highest degree of quality care can be provided to our residents at all times.

• Provide skilled, medically necessary speech and language therapy assessments as well as develop and implement individualized treatment plans to increase client’s independence and functioning
• Provide augmentative and alternative communication (AAC) systems for individuals with severe expressive and/or language comprehension disorders
• Provide training and education to client, family, caregivers and other professionals as a subject matter expert
• Coordinate and collaborate with other professionals for diagnostic swallowing procedures (MBSS, FEES) as ordered by physician
• Supervise as appropriate, provisional licensees, students including Clinical Fellowship year externs (CFY) and support personnel in accordance with state licensure requirements and professional standards
• Demonstrate competent technical skills according to current Speech Therapy standards of practice
• Provide accurate and timely billing records and supporting clinical documentation
• Perform screening rounds as directed by Director of Rehabilitation to assess for client needs and environmental safety
• Provide recommendations to Director of Rehab and other team members opportunities for business improvement, safety concerns or other updates

SKILLS, KNOWLEDGE AND EXPERIENCE:

• Effective and efficient time management skills
• Sufficient verbal and written communication skills to perform the tasks required
• Knowledge of current Speech Therapy practices and procedures including laws, regulations and guidelines that pertain to nursing care facilities
• Current, active Speech Therapy License (required)
• Current ASHA certification
